Tips to stay safe

  • Check What’s Behind You — Before changing direction or entering your destination, take a quick look around you.

Don't Let Your Routine Become Predictable — If you walk the same route every day, occasionally change your timing or route.

Keep One Ear Free — If you're using headphones, leave one ear open so you can hear what is happening around you.

Pause Before You Enter — Before getting out of your car or entering a building, take a moment to observe who and what is around you.

Know Your Exit — When entering a new place, take note of nearby exits and safe, populated areas.

  • You don't know what comes next.

A normal day can change in an instant.

    A late walk home.
    A forgotten bag.
    A car left somewhere unfamiliar.
A moment when you simply need to be heard.

    You can't control every situation.

But you can control how prepared you are.
